Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways

We’re Having A Party!

I am so excited to announce my very first give away!  In honor of Quilting Gallery’s fifth birthday and as a thank you to my readers I am giving away a very special gift!

What Am I Giving Away?

My sewing room has been buzzing with activity.  I’ve been busily creating a neat little bag for my very first give away.  The pattern I used is the Hold Anything Bag by Dancing Cranes Design.

Choosing just the right fabrics, for this special gift, proved very difficult.  Not being able to select just one combination I decided to create two options.

Option # 1

Option # 2

Under Construction

I began assembling my Hold Anything Bag late in November.  The instructions

were well written and easy to follow.  In no time I had the body of the Hold Anything Bag sewn together.

The bag has a neat feature incorporating four pieces of a metal carpenter’s ruler.  If you are familiar with a carpenter’s ruler, then you are aware of the metal’s ability not only to roll into a circle but also snap back into shape.  Both of these characteristics make the carpenter’s ruler an excellent choice.  The ruler’s ability to be rolled allows the bag to be opened while the “snapping back” feature secures the bag closed.  It’s really quite clever.

Pictured above are two pieces of a carpenter’s ruler awaiting installation of their end caps.  Pictured below is Bag # 1 ready for the prepared ruler pieces.

I finished the Hold Anything Bags last Sunday.  I’m so pleased with their outcome.  I would love to have either one for my very own.  Here’s a photo of both.

Option # 1

Option # 2

So which one will you choose?

Check Out the Blog Hop

I almost forgot to share this last but very important bit of information.  Quilting Gallery is not only celebrating their fifth birthday, they are also hosting a Blog Hop.    Blogs from all over are giving away merchandise.  Hop on over to Quilting Gallery.  There you will find links to more than 150 participants.  Follow those links to discover the possibilities.  After all you wouldn’t want to miss out.

One More Thing!

If you are new to my blog take a little time to explore.  I offer long arm quilting services as well as hints and tips to help make your sewing/quilting experience more enjoyable.  Stop by on a regular basis, or better yet become a follower.  Surprisingly quilting is not the only thing I do, hence quilting is not the only thing I discuss.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I’m so thankful for each and every reader.  Without an audience my blog would be nothing.  You make it all worthwhile.

    1. Thank you! Of course I can’t take credit for the design but I sure can take credit for the outcome! Great fun.

  4. #136 – They’re both beautiful, but I would choose Bag 2, simply because of the darker- colored bottom and how dirty my bags get :).

  5. #120 – What coooool bags!!! I LOOOOVE the #1 bag BEST…… 🙂

Thanks for chance to win your Drawing!

  6. #116 – I love both bags fabrics!! Hard choice! But I think I’ll choose #1. Thanks for a chance to win! 🙂

    1. Thearica,

Well I truly would be honored to be represented at your quilt guild. If you don’t win and you would still like one of these bags you let me know. I’m sure we could work something out. Where there’s a will there’s a way. I still have the pattern. I have lots of fabric (not those colors) and I have plenty of ruler pieces to make quite a few more. Have a wonderful day!

  7. #113 – Cindy,

Me again! Hoping to get a second chance to win bag #1. I have added your blog to my Google Reader! I hope that counts!

    Pick me, pick me!

  19. #58 – Bag number 2 is wonderful…well both are wonderful but I prefer bag number 2…but only slightly so please don’t tell bag number 1, I would not want hurt feelings.

  20. #54 – You are doing a wonderful job being this is your first one. Both of your bags are adorable. It would be an honor to win either one. However, you did ask us to choose so I am going with No. 1. Thank you for giving all of your followers a chance to win one. Happy Holidays.

    1. I am having an absolute blast! I can’t wait for the next one.

Thank you for the wonderful comments. I know it’s hard to choose. I had a hard time picking a favorite and that’s why there are two options. I could have only offered one but when I finished sewing them I thought it would be fun to let my readers select their favorite. It was pure joy putting them together. I know I will be making many more.

  21. #47 – I love both bags, but since you wanted a pick, I guess my eye is more drawn to bag #1
#48 – I have not been a follower, but I’m about to hop over and sign up.
I haven’t done a lot of blog hopping, but am now thinking this could be a bit of fun.

  22. #34 – I would love 2 especially. What a wonderful idea. You are going to make the bag for the person who wins? Wow. Great idea. Thank you for your generosity.

    1. The bags are already made and waiting for one lucky recipient! Thank you for the compliment!

  23. #27 – When you asked about the fabric a week or so ago it was a hard choice. Just as hard now complete. They both look great all done :-). I think though I like option 2.

  24. Reblogged this on Under the Maple Canopy and commented:

We’re crazy busy here today so aside from said carpet post, I won’t have anything creative or earth shattering to say. Instead, I thought I’d point you in the direction of my mom’s blog because she’s having a giveaway! You should definitely stop by and toss your hat into the ring. :0)

    1. It’s the first time I had ever come across them as well. I’m having as much fun as you are.

  25. #8 – I love bag #1. I’ve heard about using the measuring ‘carpenters’ tape for a closure but have never tried it… looks quite slick!
Isn’t it funny how long it takes to decide on what fabrics to use… and then in the end almost always the combinations look great.

    1. It was very easy to make and quite clever. Who would have thought. I think both fabric combinations turned out great. I’m so glad you like them. Good luck on the drawing.
