The Yellow Brick Road

The only thing better than children is grandchildren. Eighteen months ago my fourth grandchild was born. The excitement of her impending birth brought about a frenzy of sewing activity. Between my oldest daughter, my Colorado daughter and myself we created a diaper bag, storage bag, two quilts, among other items. Today’s post is about one of the quilts.

During one of my many visits to Colorado my second daughter and I did a bit of fabric shopping. I don’t remember the name of the shop but I remember where it was and what we were shopping for. On our agenda was the purchase of fabric to make a quilt for grandchild # four. I very distinctly remember playing a role as referee in the weeding-out of various candidates. By the time we left my daughter had purchased everything she needed to make the quilt.

I had no role in constructing the quilt but I did have the privilege of quilting and binding it. The borders were quilted with a bubble pattern. In the center panel I used a geometric meander. Take a look…
