Not long after moving into our new home my friend Sandy asked me to quilt her project. Sandy creates beautiful quilts using her embroidery machine. This particular quilt was part of a challenge and would eventually be entered into a competition.
Sandy used a pallet of colors commonly displayed during the Christmas season. To enhance its natural beauty she embroidered Christmas themed emblems in the center of each quilt block. The quilt, with its carefully stitched embroidery, batting and backing was quite heavy.
The quilting stitch pattern chosen by Sandy was a fairly large swirl. Sandy stressed how important it was to her that the pattern not be small. If I had used a smaller stitch pattern it would have made the quilt even more bulky. One thread color was used. Sandy chose antique gold.
Sandy’s quilt received many compliments when it was revealed at the fabric challenge event. Sandy also entered her quilt in the Guild’s fall quilt show. Her quilt placed fourth.
This is Sandy’s quilt.
