Inspiration

Quilting is a vehicle for artistic expression. The quilt top as well as the stitches that secure a quilt’s three layers together are all forms of art. Together they create one harmonious masterpiece.

Just about anywhere you look one can find patterns or repeating lines of every sort. When it comes to selecting the stitch patterns that will finish off a quilt, I rely upon the hours of experience I have logged and the sparks of inspiration I have bumped into during my everyday life.

I’ve been accumulating a library of photos documenting items I think may one day be converted into stitch patterns. Now all I need to do is get out my sketch pad and pen and start doodling. With a little bit of practice and some creative drawing a pattern seen by the eye can be transformed into flowing lines on fabric.

Here are some of my ideas.
