Hurricane Sandy created a mountain of devastation. From that tragedy quilters world-wide were mobilized to make quilts for the victims. I was one of those people who heard and responded to the call.
I agreed to not only make quilt blocks but to also assemble them, along with enough blocks from other participants, into four quilts. This undertaking was a long and tedious process. Far more involved than I had ever imagined.
Watching them evolve from stacks of blocks, to fully assembled quilt tops, through the quilting process and application of their bindings was truly an awesome experience. By the time they were finished yards and yards of fabric, hundreds of hours of work, and thousands of stitches were invested in this labor of love.
Shown below are photos of the four quilts.
