While shopping I often search for items that can be used as embellishments for my fiber art. This project includes one my unusual finds. The base of the project is a felted wool beverage coaster I purchased from a local wool vendor. Although it was intended to absorb moisture from beverage containers I had other plans. The coaster was machine stitched to an 8”x10” stretched canvas frame with filament thread. On top of that I layered a grouping of fabric scraps. The fabric fragments were attached to the coaster with strategically placed hand stitching. The last item to be added was a decorative clip. The button at the top of the clip was stamped with the word “Enjoy.” The sentiment was the inspiration for naming this art piece.
A paper barrier was added to the back of the frame to protect it from bugs and dust. To aide in display I added a sawtooth hanger. Also present is silicone bumpers to help keep the frame level as well as encourage ventilation.
This wonderful specimen would make a lovely addition to your home.
