When I pull items together to form my newest and greatest fiber art project I like to let my imagination run wild. This often results in the combining of weird and unusual items. For this specimen I used a single green square of felt, a strip of gathered yellow material, a fringed scrap of orange and, of all things, a lime green zipper pull; a rather strange combination.
After attaching the green felt to the 8”x10” stretched canvas frame, with a simple running stitch, I used orange thread to tack the ruffly yellow scrap in place. On top of the two-tone orange strip I added six French knots. The odd little embellishment, a lime colored zipper pull, was secured with orange cotton thread.
The inspiration for the name of this specimen was, as you have probably already guessed, the sassy yellow material. The gathered rows of stitching brought to mind the image of a corset which made naming it “Yellow Corset” seem only natural.
A paper barrier was added to the back of the frame to protect it from pests and dust. To aide in display I added a sawtooth hanger. Also present is silicone bumpers to help keep the frame level as well as encourage ventilation.
This wonderful specimen would make a lovely addition to your home.
