I just love how a simple pairing of fabrics and stitches can combine together to create a fiber art piece. For this project I used a single green square of felt, and a fringed section of hand-dyed fabric. The images on the hand-dyed material reminded me of a flower garden filled with poppies. To replicate that image I incorporated orange and gold French knots. I stitched seven orange x’s to suggest the presence of a fence. Marching around the perimeter of both the hand-dyed fabric and the felt square are rows of color-coordinated running stitches.
The image of a garden filled with poppies was the inspiration for the naming of this specimen.
A paper barrier was added to the back of the frame to protect it from pests and dust. To aide in display I added a sawtooth hanger. Also present is silicone bumpers to help keep the frame level as well as encourage ventilation.
This wonderful specimen would make a lovely addition to your home.
