I Really Like Pineapple

My Button

Since January I’ve been participating in Sew Bittersweet’s A Lovely Year of Finishes.  So far I have followed through with all of my commitments.  It’s been great getting projects crossed off my to-do-list. Gotta keep crossing things off my list so it doesn’t look so bad when I add more on.

The project I’m adding for April is a small quilt I made way back in the 1990’s.  It’s been neatly folded and patiently waiting on my unfinished projects list for far too long.  I couldn’t think of a more appropriate time to finish it than now.

When I originally made the quilt I had unfortunately not purchased fabric for the backing or binding.  Who knows why I didn’t.  I must have assumed the fabric would always be available.  Not too long ago I took it to Life’s A Stitch Quilt Shoppe to explore my options.  I was so very surprised and so pleased to discover one of the fabrics was still in print.  The color intensity was slightly different but I didn’t care.  I considered it a triumph to even be able to find the same pattern, let alone a color that closely matched.  How lucky is that?

So, it’s official!  I’m declaring my 1990’s Pineapple quilt my April project to finish.  The pattern is from the book Pineapple Passion by Nancy Smith & Lynda Milligan.

It’s Naked

Got Your Attention Didn’t I!

Relax!  I was referring to the rollers on my long arm quilt machine.  I finished quilting Hurricane Sandy Quilt # 4 so that’s why the rollers are empty (I’m doing a happy dance).  All that’s left now is the hand stitching on the binding.  By the end of this week the entire project should be completed.

Want To See What It Looks Like?

I don’t intent to show photos of the whole quilt until the binding is all done.  I will, however, tease you with a few samples.  Here you go . . .

Do you like what you see?

So What Else Has Been Going On?

Not much!  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on all four of the Hurricane Sandy Quilts.  Unfortunately they’ve monopolized my schedule and left very little time for much else.  I’m looking forward to a change.  Hopefully I’ll know how to handle the void they leave in my day.  Perhaps I will have to brush up on my time management skills.

I’m Linking Up

I’m joining the ladies over at Freshly Pieced and A Lovely Year of Finishes.  Make sure you hop on over.  There’s so many other lovely projects to catch up on.

Sandy Quilt # 2 Ready for Quilting

Remember last week how I told you I was going to update my work-in-progress list and set a goal to finish as many projects on that list as possible?  Well I just got the incentive I needed to forge ahead.  Over at Sew BitterSweet Designs and Fiber of All Sorts they’re hosting the 2013 A Lovely Year of Finishes.

To learn all the details and get yourself connected hop on over to either blog.  No time to procrastinate though because the deadline to enter is TODAY!

The first project I will be entering is my second Sandy Quilt.  The quilt was just loaded on my long arm machine and is now waiting to be quilted.  Once I have the quilting done it’s on to binding and labels.
